Eliza Draycott

Twenty-one. A gothic deathrock punk and a working supernatural investigator.

Her look is armor and she knows it: a forward-leaning deathhawk, deathlocks that stop just below the jaw, a skull camisole, fishnets and a pleated skirt, mid-calf platform boots with a big silver skull buckle, fingerless gloves, a spiked choker and a bat pendant.

Under all of it is a face that still reads young. That contradiction is the point.

Ember Kerrigan

Curly red hair, band tees, ripped jeans, a tool belt and a Kerrigan Repairs patch.

Ember moves like she’s bolted to the floor: grounded, weighted, hard to knock over. Kerrigan’s Auto Repair is her family’s shop, and it’s her territory.

The Mourner

Eliza’s hearse, and the first thing you see in Book One.

It’s a 1960, not a ’57 or ’58, which wear a different face and different fins. Those tail fins are how you’ll recognize it at a distance.

The Mourner isn’t transport. It’s cast.

Their story starts in Black Hymn
